Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Happy (Inter)National Scrapbook Day! I hope that you are having fun with the Citrus Twist Hop and getting lots of inspiration. For this challenge I am up with Kristel and we are challenging you to stamp on your background.

For this challenge I decided to stamp a phrase down the side of my paper strips and underneath my title. I'll be honest, if it weren't for this challenge, I would not have done this. However, I am so pleased with the end result! It goes to show that playing along with challenges and creating something out of your comfort zone can pay off with a layout that you love.

The flamingo is from the Heidi Swapp Pineapple Crush line and I thought it would be a great addition to this layout. If you look closely you can see a bit of the tulle peeking out under the photo that is included in the main kit.

This chipboard toucan is absolutely adorable and he was perfect to include on this page as well. I have three different tropical birds on this layout, but I decided that instead of hoarding them I would use them on a layout that I love.

As far as the stamping, I decided to stamp one phrase multiple times above the photo and below the title. The repetition of the phrase along with 2nd and 3rd generation stamping brings visual interest to the border.

Citrus Twist Sugarland

Hello friends! Today I am going to post my projects that I made using the Citrus Twist Sugarland kits. I received the main kit, embellishment and project life kit this month and will let you know which kits I used in making the projects.

My first layout uses only the main kit which contained that adorable pom pom fringe! This layout was also created specifically with the 3-to-inspire weekly challenge, and my prompts were to use a photo that you love, use the pom pom trim, and to stitch.

I have recently started using a Traveler's Notebook and have started an insert that is scripture based. This verse was a verse that I needed one day and I have found that when I am creating the pages that I am reflecting on the verse and finding comfort. This hobby is truly therapeutic. This is my favorite project this month and it was made using the main kit, project life kit, and patterned paper add-on.

Next up I have a sports page to share, and on this page I used the Main kit and Embellishment add-on. The puffy word stickers from Crate Paper Good Vibes are amazing. I love the font, and it contains a few phrases that I have not seen before in Thickers. I realized after I took the photos of the layout that I did not add my journaling. Underneath the top cluster I typed out something that my daughter said her first year of playing softball...."I have been waiting my whole life to play softball". Every now and then I actually remembered to write down a few of the things that my kids said, and I do try and work them onto pages when I can do so. 

My final project for the month used the Main, Embellishment, and Project Life kits, and the free cut file designed by Kira. It does take some time to back the cut file, but the process is quite enjoyable to me. I stitched around the outside edge using embroidery floss.

Relaxing Moments for Citrus Twist

The end of the year is quickly approaching and I still have a few more projects to share. Today I have a layout using the Citrus Twist main scrapbook kit "Sonoma". The colors of this kit are so bright and cheery and a breath of fresh air among all of my Christmas supplies that are out. The photo that I am scrapping is my view from the balcony of the cruise ship while we were sitting in port. The water was a gorgeous blue, I was reading a good book, and all was well in that moment. 

One of my favorite things to do is to incorporate different fonts in my title. The mix of the green and gold just makes me happy. 

The cork embellishments included in the kit have great little sayings and are very versatile. I tried to incorporate the ampersand in the title, but could not get it to work. However, I think that it reads well with the cork phrase.

Hello Punkin' for Citrus Twist

Every now and then I look back at a photo and fall in love all over again. This sweet photo of my baby girl following her daddy with her pumpkins is most certainly one of them. I can still hear her saying "punkin" and still remember her excitement at choosing her very own punkins to take home. 

To create this page I used both the main and PL Citrus Twist kits, as well as used one of the sketches for this month. I'm always looking for inspiration on creating pages that are a bit outside of my norm, and the title placement on this sketch is a bit different for me.

 

Stitching the paper strips adds a bit of texture and allows me to ruffle the edges of the strips for more dimension. I fussy cut a few leaves from the patterned paper add-on from October. The little acorns make such a sweet accent to the cluster.

Hello gorgeous teal thickers and puffy alphas....it was love at first sight! The hello Thicker nested perfectly around the label sticker making the title cohesive. I also added a little zig zag stitching to the cluster as well. 

It can be harder to add meaningful journaling to a layout when scrapping a photo that is several years old. I kept it simple and to what I remembered, and yet I still think that it brings a lot to the page.

Hello everyone! I'm back today with a Traveler's Notebook spread using the gorgeous Citrus Twist PL kit. I've decided to dedicate an insert to documenting things that I am grateful for, and working in it throughout the year.

Several years ago I injured my back while at work. The recovery has been slow, but fortunately for me I have been able to return to work a day or two a week. One of the things that has tremendously helped me is massage therapy. I am blessed to have found this therapist, who not only has healing hands, but has become a true friend.

The plaid paper is a Citrus Twist exclusive and one of my favorites this month. I'm a sucker for a pretty plaid. This one is perfectly suited for this photo even though the blues don't quite match. 

One of my favorite things about this spread is the tag embellishment cluster. The sweet little flowers fit perfectly on the tag, and the phrase die cut completes the cluster and balances the pop of black from the left side of the spread.

Citrus Twist November Stories kit

Oh my gracious I love this kit! It's gorgeous, and the exclusive paper this month seems like it was made just for me! If you have followed me for a while, you know just how much I love floral papers, and this paper is no exception. 

I've had this photo in a pile to be scrapped for years...yes, years! I was waiting for inspiration, and this kit certainly inspired me to get it documented. I chose cut file by Paige Evans that is available in the Silhouette design store. 

The orange floral paper is the first one that I chose to back the cut file with and since I love it so much it had to go in the center of the pumpkin. The aqua triangle paper and the yellow and white diagonal striped paper are perfect choices to place beside the floral since both colors are found in the floral. To finish off the ends of the pumpkin, I backed the file with the soft coral-red paper which pulls out colors in the photo.

 This cut file begged me to stitch around it...yes it truly begged :)  I used all six strands of embroidery floss and did a simple backstitch all around the pumpkin. I'm in love with the way that it turned out.

This photo makes me laugh because it is near impossible to get two toddlers to look at the camera at the same time, much less smile. The main kit has a lot of die cuts included and this circle one that says "not happening" needed to be on this page.

My First Traveler's Notebook Spread...

Yes, I swore to myself that I did not need to get on the Traveler's Notebook train....but I did it anyway and am so glad that I took the plunge! Creating the spread was definitely a challenge due to the smaller surface area, but I love the end result and will be creating more pages in the near future.

This spread was created after the Las Vegas massacre. My heart was broken for all of the families and I needed to get something down on paper. Since the world is in need of more love, I chose that as my title. 

In creating this spread I used the gorgeous October Citrus Twist kits. Unfortunately the kit is now sold out but you can sign up to begin a subscription with November's kit.

The exclusive stamp Life is Good is still available in the shop as of this moment. One of my favorite phrases on the stamp is "yes. this.", and it was perfect for this spread. I stamped it several times on the labels and love the way that it turned out.

As a Christian I look for comfort in the Bible. There is always a verse that speaks to my heart and gives me comfort, and I wanted to include it on this spread. I'm thinking that this insert of my TN will be dedicated to Bible verses, devotions, or other forms of worship. 

I don't play with SnapChat often, but the heart filter was perfect for the selfie that I sent to my husband to let him know how much I missed him when he was out of town. It became the perfect photo for this spread. Paige included some really great phrases in her new collection, and this die cut spoke to me...it is what I have to believe. Good things are coming.

Sketch Challenge for Citrus Twist

I'm excited to be sharing with you my second project for Citrus Twist using this wonderful sketch. I was drawn to the title on the vertical border, and I ended up staying true to the sketch.

The products that I used for this layout come from the Main, Embellishment, and PL kits.

These photos are from the first day of school. I love the phrases in the collection and find that they are extremely versatile. These phrases would also be great for a new job, moving, friendships...the list goes on and on. 

One of my favorite things on this page is this sweet bird and the speech bubble. It is so stinking cute!! Layering the labels underneath the bird gave him a sweet perch plus adds interest to the cluster. 

The main kit this month included doilies which are one of my favorite things to use to embellish my pages. 

I messed up on the stamping so I stamped on plain cardstock and covered it up. While it is not perfect, it is good enough and definitely not worth me tearing up the page like I've been known to do :)

Sweet Moments with Citrus Twist

I'm excited today to be sharing my first layout for Citrus Twist. The main scrapbook kit this month is right up my alley with the colors and patterned papers.

The rose gold foil accents in the collection are lovely. This butterfly is my favorite embellishment and I stitched through it not only to secure it, but for some added texture.

Hand stitching has been a love of mine since I was a little girl. These die cuts come to life with a bit of stitching in the centers. Choosing embroidery floss to match the die cuts made my stitching easier and gave me a bit of wiggle room in case my stitches were not quite on target.

To jazz up the background I chose a heavyweight acrylic paint by Liquitex and used a large dry brush to paint it on the background. I find that using the heavyweight paint that my paper does not buckle nearly as much, nor do I need to use gesso.

We all know that Thickers are notorious for not sticking to the page. These alphas have a gorgeous design which allowed my stitching to blend in. Subtle details are some of my favorite to add to my pages.
