#Selfie

When you have a teenage girl and are looking for a picture to scrap, all you need to do is look at her camera roll. I found this picture and sent it to my camera and loved the way that it looked in black and white.  I am really trying hard to use some things that I have sitting untouched in my stash and this Carta Bella kit was one of them.  I love the bright colors of the collection, and decided that the sunglass paper would be perfect for this picture.  I also used a sketch that was posted on the Hip Kit Forum, along with the guidelines for the challenge.

Here's the sketch that I used.  I love the bold lines and the title placement.

I stretched the sketch to make a 12x12 layout and I stayed true to the sketch.  The guidelines for the challenge included using the following: enamel dots, 2 or more patterned papers, a journaling card, stamping, die cut or stickers, and a label sticker. I wasn't able to get my layout done in time to participate in the challenge, but I loved the sketch and the guidelines so much I knew that I wanted to use them.

I love the photo strip washi along the edge.  It was perfect for the pop of black that I wanted and perfect for the theme of the page.

I love the little doily from Doodlebug!  Doilies are my weakness and I could use them on every layout if I let myself.

I have a process video if you would like to take a closer peak at my process.

Mother's Day Breakfast

My daughter is so sweet!  She helped my husband prepare breakfast for me on Mother's Day and her presentation was so thoughtful.  Thankfully I remembered to take a picture before I started eating.  Sometimes I get caught up in the moment and forget to document it.  This layout was made in response to the Fun Kit challenge on Facebook which was to use Dear Lizzy Fine and Dandy products.  I also used a cut file designed by Ashley Horton for Hip Kit members.

I love the Evaliscious puffy stickers and this cute cup was the perfect accent!

I love the addition of the bow in this cluster.

I have a process video for this layout as well if you'd like to take a closer peak.

I actually won something!!

I won a Cocoa Daisy kit on their Instagram hop!  I have never tried their kit club, so I was very excited and I must say that I was impressed with the quality and contents of the kit.  I had ruled them out in my search for kit clubs only because of the stamp set each month.  I don't want to pay for stamps in my kit because I don't always use them.  I love the exclusive papers in the kit and couldn't wait to use them.
I had something completely different in mind when I started to make this layout.  I decided to stop fighting with it and this was my end result. I love the cork shapes that were included in the kit, and puffy stickers...yes please!

Everything was from the kit with the exception of the washi, twine, mist and enamel dots. I love the stitching through the title.  It was my first time sewing with metallic thread and that was an experience!  I broke my first needle and can I just say how hard it is to thread silver thread through the eye of the silver needle!

I have a process video if you are interested in a taking a closer look at my process.

Crafty Maven Scraplift Saturday

I am so excited to be participating in this wonderful channel! Hannah has done an incredible job organizing, recruiting youtubers, and finding inspiration pieces for us each week. I chose this layout to lift from Hannah.
Here are the inspiration pieces from this week.  I love the colors!

I looked through Hannah's gallery and found several things that she likes to do on her layouts.  She frequently uses woodgrain papers, mixed media, and geometric shapes whether they are a part of her mixed media or embellishments.  Here is my lift...
I was going to do a bit of mixed media in the background, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.  I love the papers so much and I wanted them to be front and center. If you are interested in seeing the process I have a video up.
