It's Time for Another Sketch!

Today I am sharing a fabulous sketch that Laura created for Stuck?! Sketches

As soon as I saw it I knew exactly which paper I wanted to use to fussy cut the flowers. This has been done before, but I still wanted to do it and I love the end result!

Fussy cutting these flowers and then stitching them did take me several hours, but I love doing it so I don't mind it at all. My wrist did hurt a bit afterwards...this is the biggest hand stitching project I've done since spraining it, but the pain was oh so worth it :)

Everything is from Paige Evan's "Oh My Heart" collection with the exception of the enamel dots, the butterflies, and the chipboard "Hello".

To make sure that the journaling was legible, I adhered the strips close together. Another option was to paint white acrylic paint or gesso over the area, but I wasn't in the mood to get my hands dirty and this worked just fine.

We'd love for you to play along with this sketch. If you do, please be sure and link your project up to the site. You'll have a chance to win a prize from one of these two sponsors this month.

Here's a link to my process video if you'd like to take a peek at how the page came together. Thanks so much and have a great day!

Stuck?! Sketches Reveal Day

There's a new sketch today over at Stuck?! Sketches and as usual it is a good one!

Instead of using square photos, I chose two 3x4 photos and then just adjusted the sketch from that point. I did move the title underneath the photo cluster since the size of my title was quite a bit larger than the bottom cluster.

All of the products used on the layout are from Cocoa Vanilla's line You Rock, with the exception of the star sequins (Felicity Jane) and Thickers. The gray and white striped patterned paper is just lovely, and I wish that I had another full sheet. It makes a nice background with its subtle horizontal stripes.

Since this is a masculine page, I looped the twine through the tag and then tied a knot in it instead of my usual bow.

I will be adding journaling to the page but I need to find out which song my son played for this recital before I do so. The date will be stamped on the black label in the lower cluster. If I have to add journaling at a later time, I will often leave off the date as well. This prevents me from putting the layout away in an album and forgetting to journal.

We'd love for you to play along this month at Stuck?! Sketches! Remember to link your layout up on the site for a chance to win a prize from one of our sponsors listed below.
